Public sector consultancy

Several of the faculty’s departments work on assignments that involve public sector consultancy. These are primarily assignments in the fields of odontology and forensic medicine.

The Department of Dentistry and Oral Health Care

The Department of Dentistry and Oral Health Care assists the authorities by providing forensic dentistry services to a wide range of authorities and councils, including the National Board of Industrial Injuries in Denmark, the National Board of Patient Injuries in Denmark, the Danish National Agency for Patients’ Rights and Complaints, the Danish Medico-legal Council, the Danish National Institute of Radiation Protection, the Danish Health and Medicines Authority, the Danish Dental Injury Appeal Board and the Danish Committee on Scientific Dishonesty.

The Department of Forensic Medicine

The Department of Forensic Medicine assists the Danish judicial system with autopsies and crime scene examinations, as well as personal examinations of victims of violence, sexual assault, child abuse and torture. The department works closely with centres for victims of sexual abuse and the Centre for Abused Children. In addition, it carries out chemical analyses of blood and tissue samples for the content of narcotics, drugs and toxins. These analyses are carried out in connection with traffic patrols conducted by the police, as well as toxicological assessments of deaths. Finally, the department carries out analyses of confiscated materials such as powders, tablets, liquids and plant material, for the content of narcotics, medicines and doping substances.

The department collaborates closely with the police districts in East Jutland, South-East Jutland, North Jutland as well as Central and Western Jutland.

Public-sector consultancy constitutes the majority of the department's work.
