Register-based research

Denmark is one of the countries in the world with the most health registers. In Denmark it is possible to combine data from different registers and databases via the Danish civil registration number and this provides unique opportunities for finding answers to questions related to health and social issues.

Register-based research is closely correlated with clinical research and one of the main objectives of this type of research is to provide knowledge that can improve disease prevention and patient treatment.

Register-based research at AU Health is divided between the Department of Public Health, Department of Clinical Medicine and two research centres. In each, research groups focus their work on specialised areas. You can read more about the research areas via the links below.
