Postdoc in Pharmaco and Reproductive Epidemiology 1000818

Aarhus University, Health, Department of Clinical Medicine, Department of Clinical Epidemiology wants to fill one vacant position as postdoc.

The position is a full-time position with 37 hours per week, and is expected to be filled on 1 October 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter. The position will end on 30 December 2020.

You will be employed with reference to the professor of the department.

Department of Clinical Medicine and Department of Clinical Epidemiology

The Department of Clinical Medicine has in close collaboration with hospitals the overall responsibility for research and for the teaching of medical students at the hospitals in the Central Denmark Region. The majority of research takes place at Aarhus University Hospital, though there is also an increasing level of activity at the regional hospitals.

Department of Clinical Epidemiology (DCE) is a research department at Department of Clinical Medicine at Aarhus University and affiliated with Aarhus University Hospital. Researchers at DCE use advanced epidemiological methods to study questions relevant for clinical care. DCE is engaged in a broad range of research activities within clinical epidemiology. Moreover, DCE is involved in consultancy for national and international government agencies and the biotech and pharmaceutical industry. A large number of projects in the department are carried out in collaboration with foreign universities.

The Department is chaired by a clinical professor who is also head consultant. The Department employs 5 full-time and 4 part-time professors, 5 consultants, 25 biostatisticians, several junior doctors, administrative staff and more than 25 ph.d. and research year students.

Responsibilities/tasks

Responsible for two collaborative projects based on Nordic nationwide registers (maternal exposures during pregnancy (social status, diseases, medication) and offspring health outcomes (psychiatric diseases and cardiovascular diseases). Prepare data management for large Nordic databases, perform analyses, present results from two the research projects.
Conduct independent scientific research within pharmaco-epidemiology and reproductive epidemiology
Conduct other assigned scientific research.
Participate in teaching activities at Aarhus University.

Required qualifications
A PhD degree in Medicine (Epidemiology)
Skills in applied Biostatistics or in relevant areas; Performance of data management and statistical package/procedures, in particular SAS.
An interest in public health research in relation to methodological issues in biostatistics and epidemiology.
Experience in working with Nordic register data.
Research experience in child and maternal health research and pharmaco-/reproductive epidemiology.
