Aarhus University, Health, Department of Clinical Medicine, Department of Clinical Epidemiology is seeking an experienced and motivated biostatistician.

The Department of Clinical Medicine has – in close collaboration with hospitals in the Region – the overall responsibility for research and for the teaching of medical students at the hospitals in the Central Denmark Region. The majority of research takes place at Aarhus University Hospital, though there is also an increasing level of activity at the regional hospitals.

Department of Clinical Epidemiology (DCE) is a research department within Department of Clinical Medicine at Aarhus University and affiliated with Aarhus University Hospital. Researchers at DCE use advanced epidemiological methods to study questions relevant for clinical care. DCE is engaged in a broad range of research activities within clinical epidemiology. Moreover, DCE is involved in consultancy for national and international government agencies and the biotech and pharmaceutical industry. A large number of projects in the department is carried out in collaboration with foreign universities. DCE wants to improve the competences within clinical toxicology and biomarker research.

The Department is chaired by a clinical professor who is also head consultant. The Department employs another 6 full-time or part-time professors or consultants, approx. 20 biostatisticians and approximately 30 PhD students.

3. Expected start date

The position, which is a full-time position with 37 hours per week, is expected to be filled on 1 June 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter.

4. Reporting relationship

You will be employed with reference to the Head of Biostatistics.

5. Job responsibilities/tasks

• Perform data extraction from multiple, large datasets for the research projects in the department using SAS
• Perform statistical analyses for the research projects in the department
• Provide support in connection with planning and extraction/ analysis of data

6. Qualifications

We envisage that you have the following qualifications:

Professional qualifications:

• MSc in a science related field
• Experience with data management based on healthcare data and other large datasets
• Knowledge of various statistical methods and their application, combined with programming experience in the statistical software program SAS
• Interest in healthcare research

Personal qualifications:

• You are able to manage multiple tasks and projects both as a team member and independently
• You are able to prioritize your workload
• You have an eye for details
• You have the capacity to interface with clinicians and statisticians in charge of projects both in a national and international setting
• You can cope with deadlines and take pride in delivering a good product
• You are goal-oriented, quality-conscious, and service-minded
• You are interested in further developing your own professional qualifications
• Sparring with colleagues and collaborators should come natural to you
