Advanced Course on Spinal Cord Injury

An advanced course hosted by Neuroscience School of Advanced Studies (NSAS) on the pathological processes that restrain lesioned axons from regenerating after a spinal cord injury.

Info about event

Time

Saturday 8 September 2018, at 00:00 - Saturday 15 September 2018, at 00:00

Location

Isola di San Servolo, Venice, Italy

The advanced course will describe the current understanding of signaling and cell biological processes involved in axon regeneration, and will highlight studies using genetically tractable systems. Recent progress in the understanding of the immune system and its role after a spinal cord injury will be presented as well as the rapid development of neuroprosthetic interventions and rehabilitation procedures.

Some recurring themes will be axon growth, axon regeneration, and plasticity.

The course will include speakers from American, British, and Swiss universities.
