News from the Chair - Niels Jessen
The summer holidays are approaching and with this we have new reached the first five-year milestone for the Food and Nutrition Network. We can look back at a long list of activities and a strengthened position for AU Health within this research area with several professorships being awarded to nutritional researchers within our faculty with Christian Lodberg Hvas and Søren Gregersen as examples from the past year.
The annual meeting for the network was held April 3rd and it was once again an excellent window into the diversity that characterizes this field. A big thanks to keynote speakers, Kirsty Spalding and Rikard Landberg, from Karolinska and Chalmers for setting the stage for this event. Professor Hanne Bartram from AU Food gave in her presentation several examples of synergy between the faculty of Health and Technical Sciences, and this is an area we plan to investigate further. After the summer holidays, the steering committee for the network will meet with researchers from AU Food to explore new opportunities for collaborations and you are most welcome to contact members of the steering committee with any suggestions or inputs for these discussions.
Site visits for Food and Nutrition research is an important activity that is posted through our network. The sites include both internal AU sites, but also external partners like Arla amba and Arla Food Ingredients. We are currently planning a visit to IFF (International Flavors & Fragrances) in Brabrand where expertise in bioscience, chemistry, flavors and fragrances is hosted. Remember to sign up to our newsletter for updates on events and activities.
Enjoy the summer
