As a researcher, I am interested in the mental health of children and adolescents. I have investigated health anxiety in youth since 2019. I explore early risk factors and consequences of health anxiety in youth in a large Danish child cohort, the Copenhagen Child Cohort 2000, with questionnaire data linked to the Danish registers. I have a degree in Medicine from Aarhus University, and began my PhD as an MD-PhD.
In my PhD I examine health anxiety in children and adolescents. I have validated a health anxiety questionnaire for adolescents, and examined how health anxiety differs from other anxiety phenomena in youth. I will also investigate early risk factors, such as severe parental illness, for later development of health anxiety in the child, and consequences associated to having health anxiety symptoms, such as use of healthcare services and which diagnoses these children recieve over time.
I teach Psychiatry to medical students at Aarhus University. I also teach in Psychiatry to physiotherapist-students at VIA University College.
