Profile

As a Associate Professor, I am interested in diabetes and obesity, both as a clinician and as a researcher. In my work, I am responsible for clinical trials at Medical/Steno Aarhus Research Laboratory (M-lab).

Research

Substrate metabolism in diabetes and obesity

Human studies of substrate metabolism and the consequences of diabetes and insulin resistance. Currently performing studies of the signaling effects of lactate in the gut and the metabolic consequences of increasing ketogenesis by pharmacological treatment and lifestyle interventions. Ongoing studies of galactose metabolism and the potential of lactose and galactose as carbohydrate sources in diabetes and during exercise to avoid glucose fluctuations.

Job responsibilities

My primary area of responsibility is the clinical studies performed in Medical/Steno Research Laboratory, which we is a specialised clinical research lab with a focus on metabolism, diabetes, endocrinology, adiposity and nutrition. We carry out advanced “state-of-the-art” metabolic studies in patients and healthy subjects.
