I am a dentist and PhD-student conducting research in the field of orofacial pain. My colleagues and I aim to increase our knowledge of chronic pain disorders in the mouth and the face. Ultimately, we wish to use the knowledge we gain to improve the diagnostics and treatment of orofacial pain disorders.
As a PhD student I am currently investigating the idiopathic orofacial pain condition Burning Mouth Syndrome. The aim of my PhD is to increase our knowledge about this chronic pain condition with focus on its pathophysiology and treatment. In the past, I have taken part in a study regarding the examination of patients suffering from Temporomandibular Dysfunction, and an experimental pain study investigating the effects of capsaicin and milk proteins on the oral mucosa.
Apart from conducting research, I also teach students studying dentistry in different parts of their education.
