I hold a Master of Science in Medicine from Aarhus University and have several years of clinical experience as a medical doctor, including five years of specialist training in pathology. I have a strong interest in histology, tissue physiology, and the morphological changes associated with disease on a tissue level. Working in the Laboratory for Translational Epithelial Transport and Bioimaging, I contribute with my experience in brightfield microscopy and in interpreting both standard histological stains and immunohistochemical stains.
My current focus is on the pathological changes in the kidneys in chronic kidney disease, on a tissue level. In addition, I study the physiological and pathophysiological expression of epithelial proteins, particularly aquaporins (AQP), in various tissue types. In this context, I am currently investigating the expression of aquaporins in tumor tissue in female breast cancer.
