Profile

As a postdoc researcher, I have interest in advancing the understanding of the relationship between oral and systemic health, particularly in the context of diabetes and periodontitis. My work focuses on oral epidemiology and the impact of metabolic disorders on periodontitis. I have a solid background in Periodontology and Biostatistics, with specializations in both Periodontology and Public Health and Epidemiology (2018–2020), further strengthening my expertise in clinical and epidemiological research. Since 2018, I have been actively engaged in teaching, academic research, and international collaborations.

Research

My research primarily focuses on the relationship between periodontitis and systemic diseases, particularly diabetes and other metabolic disorders. In collaboration with Steno Diabetes Center Aarhus, I conduct epidemiological studies using Danish national registries and survey data, applying causal inference methods and advanced epidemiological approaches to examine the connection between oral health and diabetes. Additionally, my work aims to identify risk factors and develop strategies to improve the prevention and treatment of periodontitis in patients with diabetes. By bridging oral and systemic health research, my findings contribute to a deeper understanding of how these insights can be translated into clinical practice and public health strategies.

Job responsibilities

My primary area of responsibility is teaching in Periodontology, along with contributing to courses in Epidemiology and Biostatistics. I supervise both bachelor's and master's students and support educational management within these areas. In terms of research, I contribute to the oral health component of the Health in Central Denmark cohort, in collaboration with Steno Diabetes Center Aarhus.
