Health appoints new clinical professor and chair in orthopaedic surgery
Ole Rahbek has been appointed clinical professor and chair in orthopaedic surgery at the Department of Clinical Medicine at Aarhus University and the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Aarhus University Hospital. He will take up the position on 1 September 2025.

Ole Rahbek is a specialist in orthopaedic surgery and is internationally recognized for his research in paediatric orthopaedics – that is, the treatment of disorders and injuries of the musculoskeletal system in children and adolescents. His work includes developing methods to guide bone growth, improving screening for hip dysplasia in infants, and creating digital solutions to support families with children with disabilities.
”My research should benefit patients, families, and the healthcare system. The position as Clinical Chair Professor strengthens my ability to integrate research, teaching, and clinical work into a shared academic focus and to establish national collaborations based on solid evidence,” he says.
Ole Rahbek is currently involved in several research projects aimed at developing growth-guiding implants, implementing PFD ultrasound for screening, and creating digital support tools for relatives. He is also working to establish nationwide multicentre studies in paediatric orthopaedics, for example focusing on the treatment of forearm fractures.
As appointed clinical professor and chair he will also strengthen the teaching of paediatric orthopaedics at Aarhus University by creating better conditions for the integration of new research, interdisciplinary collaboration, and innovative learning methods at all levels – from medical students to specialists.
