The Lundbeck Foundation and AU in a new collaboration on research communication

Aarhus University and the Lundbeck Foundation will increase awareness of Danish health research. Therefore, topics such as the human genome, depression, schizophrenia and ADHD will be debated when some of the most talented researchers in Denmark present their research at a series of Lundbeck Foundation Lectures.

With the Lundbeck Foundation Lectures, Aarhus University and the Lundbeck Foundation have set themselves the goal of increasing awareness of Danish health research via a series of thought-provoking lectures at the university campus in Aarhus.

“We would really like to move Danish health research even further up the agenda - both on the political scene, in the media and at home in people’s living rooms. And the new Lundbeck Foundation Lectures in Aarhus are just one of the initiatives that can bring us closer to that goal,” says Jørgen Huno Rasmussen, chairman of the board of the Lundbeck Foundation.

The first lecture was held at Aarhus University on Wednesday 15 January 2014, and the five upcoming events during the spring are already sold out.

“The demand has been overwhelming. But that is not surprising when you look at the opportunities that the series of lectures give for getting greater insight into the exciting health science research taking place in Denmark. We are pleased to be able to present some of Denmark’s most talented researchers,” says Dean Allan Flyvbjerg from Aarhus University (here photographed with chairman of the board Jørgen Huno Rasmussen, on the left).

There are five lecturers in the series of Lundbeck Foundation Lectures during the spring, while more will follow in the autumn. The lectures are arranged in cooperation with the Danish University Extension, and you can find out more about the Lundbeck Foundation Lectures via the University Extension website.

About the Lundbeck Foundation Lectures

The Lundbeck Foundation Lectures are a series of thought-provoking lectures, which the foundation has initiated with the aim of increasing awareness of Danish research among the general public. The participants can hear about depression, drug abuse, ADHD, schizophrenia, and about what thousand-year-old DNA can tell us about our ancestors, when some of the country’s leading researchers offer interesting perspectives on the latest groundbreaking research.

The Lundbeck Foundation Lectures are a concept that was established by the Lundbeck Foundation in Copenhagen in 2012, where the foundation collaborates with the Experimentarium. And with the eight Lundbeck Foundation Lectures in Aarhus, the concept has now gone nationwide.
