Profile

As an Associate Professor in Epidemiology with a particular interest in vaccine side effects and endometriosis, my research focuses on national health registries and large-scale national cohort studies. Through my work, I aim to uncover the causes and consequences of endometriosis and to enhance our understanding of which suspected vaccine side effects are genuine and which can be attributed to other factors. I originally trained as a biologist and hold a PhD in Epidemiology.

Research

I use epidemiological methods to study causes and consequences of endometriosis, as well as potential side effects of the HPV vaccine and COVID-19 vaccine. My research on endometriosis contributes to a greater understanding of a frequently overlooked women's health condition, benefiting both patients and healthcare professionals. At the same time, my research on vaccine side effects helps clarify which side effects are real, enabling individuals to make more informed decisions about vaccination.

Teaching activities

I teach both basic and advanced epidemiology for bachelor and master’s students in Public Health Science. Through lectures, group teaching, and teamwork, my goal is to enhance the students' ability to critically assess the public health literature, while also teaching them how to select the most appropriate methods for their own studies. Additionally, I have contributed to the development of the textbook used in all our epidemiology courses at the department.

Job responsibilities

In addition to leading my research group, I am responsible for courses and teach several subjects in the Public Health Science program. I have served as co-PI and work package leader in a major EU project (FEMaLe – Finding Endometriosis using Machine Learning) and have contributed to establishing two large cohort studies (BivoVac and Cyklus2023). Additionally, I serve as Vice Chair of the Departmenal Council at the Department of Public Healt..
