My research investigates how gendered and marginalized bodies navigate digital spaces such as esports, streaming platforms, and online games. I focus especially on the experiences of female gamers and streamers, exploring how visual and vocal representation shape participation, harassment, and community dynamics in virtual settings.
My previous studies have explored the intersections of gender and violence, examining how structural and symbolic violence operates in digital environments. This includes investigations into gender-based harassment in esports, the social consequences of visibility for female players, and the ways in which digital spaces can both reproduce and challenge existing power hierarchies. I use a range of qualitative and quantitative methods, including interviews, surveys, and content analysis, with an interdisciplinary approach grounded in gender and violence studies.
I research gender in esports at Aarhus University, focusing on how gender shapes participation, identity, and representation in competitive gaming. Using qualitative methods, I explore how marginalized players navigate visibility and community dynamics. My work promotes inclusion through academic and public engagement, aiming to foster equity and challenge stereotypes in digital gaming spaces.
