Former Head of Department of Functional Disorders, now Senior Consultant at Department of Functional Disorders, Aarhus University Hospital and Professor of Functional Disorders at the Department of Clinical Medicine, Aarhus University.
Graduated as a physician from Aarhus University in 1983, PhD in 1993, specialist in psychiatry in 1996 and DMSc. in 1997.
Throughout my career, I have conducted comprehensive international, interdisciplinary research on the evidence base for functional disorders related to the understanding of the diseases, diagnostics and treatment, as well as dissemination of knowledge to patients and professionals.
I have more than 25 years of experience as a research leader.
I have received several national and international research awards. Most recently, Signe and Ane Gyllenberg Foundation’s 75th anniversary prize in 2024.
I am a Senior Consultant, Professor and Head of research at the Department of Functional Disorders.
My focus is on various aspects of functional disorders including diagnostics and classification, development of evidence-based treatment and creating greater understanding and knowledge of functional disorders.
I give lectures on functional disorders at various levels nationally as well as internationally.
I supervise PhD students and contribute to international research collaborations.
I have published more than 300 scientific publications as well as books, book chapters and textbook chapters.
