I conduct research into the blood coagulation system. I have a special interest in developing biomarkers for better prediction of blood clots in cancer patients and in patients undergoing surgery. My background is as a medical doctor, underway to becoming a specialist in Clinical Biochemistry (laboratory medicine).
I am part of the Thrombosis and Haemostasis Research Unit at Aarhus University Hospital.
I work with a broad array of biomarkers and analyses for investigation of blood clots and bleeding. I conduct studies with a strong clinical importance and impact, and am passionate about communicating the results so that they may benefit as many patients as possible.
I have performed a randomised, clinical trial aiming to improve prevention of blood clots in patients undergoing surgery for oesophageal cancer, and am currently working to develop a method of analysing fibrin network formation in blood samples.
I collaborate with researchers at Innsbruch Medical University and Institute of Science and Technology Austria on developing a method to investigate fibrin network formation. The goal is to develop a robust and replicable analysis for use in research in blood clot formation and dissolution.
