American epidemiologist is a new honorary doctor at Health

Timothy L. Lash from Emory University in Atlanta, USA, is an affiliated professor at the Department of Clinical Medicine, where he conducts research into bias in epidemiological and clinical research. Now he is also among five honorary doctorates who have just been appointed in connection with AU's annual celebration.

How should we deal with bias in epidemiological and clinical research? Timothy L. Lash has given numerous answers to this by developing the theoretical and mathematical basis for bias analyses.

Health's new honorary doctor has also made a major contribution to cancer epidemiology and is the main author of the most commonly used and cited textbooks on epidemiology worldwide: ”Modern Epidemiology” and ”Applying Quantitative Bias Analysis to Epidemiologic Data”.

Timothy L. Lash has published more than 160 articles in collaboration with AU researchers on topics ranging from bias analyses to breast cancer. In addition to his affiliation with the Department of Clinical Epidemiology, Timothy L. Lash has collaborated with several clinical departments at Aarhus University Hospital, including the Department of Oncology, the Department of Molecular Medicine, the Department of Hepatology and Gastroenterology, and the Department of Cardiology.
