Between 1991 and 2011, Jens Georg Hansen has carried out projects and research for his recently completed doctoral dissertation on acute rhinosinusitis - otherwise better known as acute sinusitis. During the 20 years in which Jens Georg Hansen has concerned himself with this common and very frequent illness, he has studied how it is diagnosed and treated at the general practitioner’s practice.

For this reason the patients who have the illness are the one’s who will end up benefiting from his research.

”My research can provide a more precise picture of acute rhinosinuisitis in general practice, so that the general practitioner can find all of the patients who may benefit from treatment with antibiotics. At the same time, general practitioners get better tools and methods to work with - methods that are both simple and already available at the clinic,” says the newly appointed doctor.

Jens Georg Hansen defended his doctoral dissertation on Friday 29 November 2013.

”I have found it to be exciting and challenging to complete my long research process with a doctoral dissertation. It has been a process that has taught me an amazing amount,” says Jens Georg Hansen.

The title of the doctoral dissertation is: Acute Rhinosinusitis (ARS). Diagnostics and treatment of adults in general practice.

Jens Georg Hansen was born on 22 December 1945 in Bagsværd, Denmark and now lives in Aalborg with his wife.
