Sleep and children with ADHD; the treatment of adults with OCD; light therapy against depression; and somatic conditions for patients with schizophrenia. These were some of the many topics that were presented when Psychiatry’s eighth annual research day took place on 7 November.

Researchers from the Department of Clinical Medicine, Aarhus University, and Aarhus University Hospital, Risskov, organise the day. The aim is to share knowledge about psychiatric research in Aarhus:

"Mental illness affects many Danes and psychiatric research therefore has a high priority in our strategy. The annual research day at Psychiatry is an important chance to share our research work. The event is intended for both current and future researchers with an interest in psychiatry, though other people are also welcome," says coordinating chair and clinical professor Raben Rosenberg.

The event intends to promote knowledge sharing and motivation for new research projects. These could be projects that transverse the psychiatric research areas or collaborate with researchers from some of the somatic areas.

The general programme

The event consists of lectures on psychiatric research projects, as well as posters with project presentations. Each lecture lasts 15 minutes. The topics range from basic research to clinical studies of children and adult patients with various mental illnesses.

Doctors, nurses and other professions contribute with presentations on projects that are either in the initial stages, up and running or recently completed:

"By presenting research in different phases and from different professional groups we cover many different aspects of psychiatric research, so there is something for everyone," says Raben Rosenberg.

In previous years, between 150-200 people have participated in the event. Psychiatry’s annual research day concludes with prizes for the best lectures and posters and a dinner for the participants.
