I'm a PhD student at the Department of Public Health at Aarhus University and Steno Diabetes Center Aarhus at Aarhus University Hospital. My background in Electrical Engineering focuses on machine learning and deep learning algorithms and their application to health data. My PhD project focuses on risk prediction of cardiovascular disease from retinal fundus photographs using deep learning models. The project will also investigate algorithm fairness and clinical relevance.
My interest lies in deep learning model design and application in the medical domain, where I have experience working with both time series and images. I'm also interested in data management and high-performance computing.
My primary job responsibility is researching AI applications in diabetes and clinical settings. This includes analyzing retinal images and developing and validating deep learning models for cardiovascular disease risk assessment. At the same time, I chair the PhD association at Health, and I'm also occasionally responsible for teaching in related areas and supervising undergraduate students.
