The Women’s Health Network aims to strengthen research in women’s health and female biology by bringing together diverse research environments across Aarhus University as well as stakeholders from outside the university.

While important knowledge gaps remain in women’s health, AU hosts strong and internationally recognised research spanning the entire life course – from foetal and reproductive health to chronic disease, pain, mental health, and ageing.

The network builds on these strengths to ad-vance sex- and gender-sensitive research and promote more precise and equitable healthcare.

By connecting researchers across disciplines, departments, and faculties, the network provides a platform for interdisciplinary collaboration and knowledge exchange.

The network integrates biological, clinical, public health, and social science perspectives to enhance critical mass and support innovative research, increase the visibility and impact of women’s health research at AU, and strengthen the communication with the general public.

The overall aim of the Women’s Health Network is to connect and strengthen existing research environments at Aarhus University and build sustained collaboration across disciplines and sectors.

By integrating biological, clinical, public health, and social science perspectives across the life course, the network seeks to connect and strengthen existing research environments at Aarhus University and to foster collaboration with external stakeholders, including companies, innovators, regions, and municipalities.

We will map and link current expertise, research projects, and data resources related to women’s health to identify synergies and highlight emerging research and outreach opportunities.

A key ambition is to strengthen the systematic integration of sex and gender perspectives in research, education, clinical translation and public education. Through increased collaboration and coordination, the network aims to enhance the visibility and competitiveness of AU researchers in national and international funding initiatives.
